Rochester, NY - On Wednesday, Black Rochester City Mayor Malik Evans issued his “State of the City” address for 2024, followed by an interview on WXXI’s Connections the following day.
During his annual “State of the City” address, Evans vowed to continue inspiring investment around the city. He also committed to continue using taxpayer funds to correct alleged “historical wrongs” committed by White people to non-Whites, with an emphasis on Blacks.
In true neoliberal fashion, Evans displayed specific intent to continue his focus on affordable housing developments, pleasing both non-White Americans and the parasitic investor class alike.
Anti-White actions such as a 120% increase in MWBE spending by the city, zero-interest loans for non-Whites perceived to be “locked out of finance,” and a population uptick largely due to non-White immigration were received with applause.
Evans also took time to celebrate the so-called “achievements” of Pathways to Peace and other taxpayer-funded projects from the Office of Violence Prevention. The OVP was created to prevent firearm violence in Rochester with dubious results.
The office primarily caters to Black youth and is run by Victor Saunders, who alleges a criminal past and an emotional connection to the Black killer of White RPD Officer Daryl Pierson in 2014.
Crime
Evans attributed his policies as a partial cause for supposed decreases in shootings, firearm-related homicides, and homicides overall.
Mayor Evans also put forth the notion that crime overall is down in Rochester, another “victory” for his administration.
The subject of crime data has been hotly debated in the United States.
The first major blow to crime data credibility in the modern era came in 2021. The FBI opted for a doomed-to-fail approach of an incremental nationwide systems switch from the Summary reporting system to NIBRS (National Incident-Based Reporting System).
In the face of the ongoing NIBRS debacle, FBI data (which includes Rochester Police Department data) began to show major discrepancies in reported and unreported data. Unreported crimes, to an extent are able to be analyzed in the abstract through National Crime Victimization Survey.
Theoretically, up/down trends in both nationwide datasets should be quite similar if the reported data is accurate.
